Kiev 4a
Made in the former Soviet Union, the Kiev line of 35mm cameras were based on the Contax design. In fact, the Contax factory was uprooted from East Germany (along with all of its engineers) and moved, brick by brick, to the Ukraine.

When I got this in late 2009 from a collector who was reducing his collection, the original 50mm lens, a Jupiter-8M, wasn't focusing, and I determined that it needed a procedure called collimation. Look it up and you'll see why I opted to get a replacement lens instead.

Tests of Jupiter-8M 50mm, Helios-103 53mm, Zeiss Triotar 85mm and Jupiter-12 35mm lenses are posted (or will be soon), and are identified in the captions.
